The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded $29,000 in grants from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association and the Oregon Department of Transportation. These funds will allow deputies to heavily increase traffic patrols over the next nine months, specifically focused on distracted driving, impaired driving, and seat belt violations.

Starting this week and continuing through New Years day, Deputies will be working overtime in an attempt to detect and arrest those drivers who choose to operate their vehicles under the influence. Please take our holiday pledge, if you are going to be indulging over the holidays, please don’t drive! From our family at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to yours please have a safe and happy holiday season.
