The Freedom Foundation announced today the Oregon School Employees Association has suffered one of the country’s largest membership declines since the U.S. Supreme Court eliminated mandatory dues or fees for public sector employees last June.
The Freedom Foundation says numbers posted to union’s website in February show one of Oregon’s largest unions has experienced an average of 30 percent membership losses – and 19 of the state chapters are below 50 percent membership.
Following the June Supreme Court decision, Freedom Foundation launched a full-scale statewide campaign to inform government workers of their rights, and claims it is directly responsible for helping more than 40,000 West Coast employees leave their unions.
