MCFD #1 responds to Motorhome Fire on I-5

Saturday at 5:09 PM Marion County Fire Department #1 units were dispatched to the report of a car fire on I-5 mile post 265. Multiple calls indicated a motor home one fire with conflicting locations.

A second engine was dispatched for additional water and to assure timely response to the fire based on multiple locations being reported. The initial responding unit reported a fully involved motor home just south of mile post 263 I-5 north bound.

MCFD#1 units arrived and confirmed all occupants were safely out of the vehicle and extinguished the fire. MCFD#1 units were assisted by Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon State Police with traffic control. Traffic remains heavy and slow in the area please drive carefully.

MCFD#1 responded to the incident with two engines, and one Battalion Chief. The occupants were able to safely exit the vehicle and there were no injuries to the occupants or firefighters. The motor home was a complete loss. The cause is believed to be from a blown rear tire.
