Salem to Consider New Revenues Options Tonight

Posted on April 15, 2019

The Salem City Council will hold a joint work session with the Sustainable Services Revenue Task Force this evening to consider options for new revenues to support City of Salem services.

After looking at details of 13 options, the Task Force is recommending three options which can help fund about $6 to $8 million in City services, be fairly shared among Salem residents and businesses, and provide the most flexibility in raising revenue. The options include an Operating Fee, Employee-Paid Payroll Tax and Local Gas Tax.

The meeting will be held this evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Anderson Room of the Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty Street SE.
