Woodburn Man Arrested for Shooting Salem Police Officer

Salem Police arrested 38-year-old Jamie Lee Jimenez of Woodburn yesterday morning in connection with the shooting of a Salem Police officer during a traffic stop Tuesday evening.

Early yesterday morning, Salem Police SWAT surrounded an apartment in the 2600 block of Broadway St. NE where investigators believe Jimenez was hiding. After nearly an hour, negotiators were able to convince him to surrender peacefully. He was booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility on multiple charges including Attempted Murder with a Firearm, Assault II with a Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Also, in the apartment was 35-year-old Amanda Cayetano of Salem. She was arrested on the charge of Hindering Prosecution in connection with the incident.

The officer’s name will be released after she has notified her family members.
