Join the City of Salem at workshops in March to share your thoughts on options for the city’s future growth.
Since last summer, community members have given their ideas and priorities for how Salem should grow as part of the Our Salem project. At the March workshops, you can see the results of that input and weigh in on different options.
The workshops are set for:
- Monday, March 16, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Court Street Christian Church, 1699 Court Street NE
- Tuesday, March 17, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Courthouse Square Building, 555 Court Street NE
- Tuesday, March 17, 6:00-8:00 p.m., McKay High School, 2440 Lancaster Drive NE (Spanish language only in collaboration with Enlace)
For those who cannot attend, there will be other opportunities to provide ideas and input online after the workshops. Check cityofsalem.net/our-salem for opportunities to participate.
This round of community input will help develop a vision for Salem’s future growth and ultimately an update to the Salem Area Comprehensive Plan. The Salem area is predicted to grow by as many as 60,000 people by 2035. The Comprehensive Plan guides Salem area development.
The Our Salem project started last year with a look at existing conditions and how Salem could grow under current policies. That first phase resulted in a report card that evaluated whether Salem is headed in the right direction.
