Roadway Clearing
Marion County has 10 crews continuing to clear county roads. County crews are clearing roads and fast as possible and are working closely with PGE to support restoration of power. If you are aware of road blockages that have not yet been reported to the county, please call Marion County Public Works dispatch at (503) 588-5304.

Firewood for residents still without power is available at the Marion County Juvenile Department for a reduced price. Firewood is available while supplies last.

Debris Management

Marion County has approved a fee waiver for disposal of woody storm debris. Residents may take their woody storm debris to either the Salem-Keizer Transfer Station located at 3250 Deer Park Dr. SE, Salem, or the North Marion Transfer Station located at 17827 Whitney Lane NE, Woodburn free of charge through March 15, 2021. Both facilities are open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only woody storm debris is eligible for the fee waiver, municipal solid waste is not included.
Marion County is working on plans for disposal options for people who are unable to transport storm debris to a drop-off location or transfer station. We will provide additional information as it becomes available. You can check for updates at co.marion.or.us/Alerts.
Disposal of Spoiled Food
Salem, Keizer, Stayton, Silverton, Turner, Jefferson, and Woodburn residents living within the city limits can put food and yard waste in the yard debris/mixed organics cart.
If residents are unsure, they may contact their local garbage hauler to see if curbside compost is offered in their area. For those that do not have a mixed organics cart, please dispose of food waste in garbage cans.
The following items may be placed in mixed organics carts if they are free of packaging:

- Tea Bags
- Coffee Filters
- Dairy Products
(no liquids) - Egg Shells
- Bones
- Fruits/Vegetables
- Meats/Proteins
- Seafood & Shells
- Plants/Flowers
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
While many community members continue to go without power, first responders have seen an increase in calls related to carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. CO poisoning can cause mild symptoms if it is caught early, but can be deadly. Prevent CO poisoning by making sure you have a properly functioning carbon monoxide detector in your home. If you’re using a generator or other gas-powered device to heat your home or power devices, make sure it is located outside your home and at least 20 feet away from any doors, windows, or vents.
