Food for Fines 2021 Returns May 1- May 15

Posted on May 2, 2021
Salem Public Library’s Food for Fines returns for its second year as a virtual program, still benefiting Marion Polk Food Share, Salem Public Library, and your community.

For every $1 donated to Marion Polk Food Share, Salem Public Library will reduce library fines by $5. This applies to overdue fines only.

You can participate in just a few easy steps:

  1. Visit Marion Polk Food Share’s Food for Fines webpage and make a donation.
  2. Forward your email confirmation to SPLcirc@cityofsalem.net
  3. Include the library barcode number(s) for the account(s) to which we should apply the fine forgiveness.
  4. Receive a confirmation email from Salem Public Library detailing fines forgiven.

You can check your fine situation in advance by logging into your account online or with the help of library staff at SPLcirc@cityofsalem.net or 503-588-6315. All items returned through our Curbside Service are checked in, free of overdue fines. Even if items you are returning have “overdue” or “lost” status, the charges will be eliminated when checked in through Curbside Service at Salem Public Library at Broadway.  Salem Public Library staff are available and happy to answer any questions you may have about your account.

We applaud Marion Polk Food Share for their dedication to helping our community. For every $1 donated, they can supply 3 meals to families in need.
