Excessive Heat Watch Issued for Wednesday Afternoon through Saturday Evening

Posted on August 9, 2021

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday evening for dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 105 degrees possible in Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon including the mid-Willamette Valley including the Salem-Keizer area.

Afternoon high temperatures are expected to rise to 95 to 100 degrees on Wednesday, then continue to increase to 100 to 105 degrees for Thursday and Friday. Temperatures may approach 100 degrees again on Saturday.   Additionally, overnight lows will only fall to around 65 to 70 degrees during this time, limiting recovery time and adding to an increased risk for heat related illnesses.
