The City of Salem announced that an overflow of raw sewage occurred into Pringle Creek on February 16, 2022 at approximately 11:08 am near 1866 Ewald Avenue SE. The overflow resulted from a tree root intrusion blocking the flow in the sanitary sewer. Approximately 23 gallons of raw sewage were spilled at the site and entered Pringle Creek. Public Works Department crews were immediately dispatched to the site and cleared the intrusion thus stopping the overflow at approximately 11:31 am. City of Salem Environmental Services staff took surface water samples. Any bacteria that entered the site should be flushed out of the water body in the next few days.
