Marion Co. Sheriff’s Office – 04/07/22 8:30 AM

This month the Marion County Sheriff’s Office is launching a new online crime reporting option for community members. In 2021, deputies from the Sheriff’s Office handled over 30,500 calls for service throughout Marion County. As we strive to continue to provide high levels of customer service, adding the ability to report certain crimes through our Public Safety Citizens Service Portal gives community members the ability to share information at their convenience instead of waiting for direct contact by a deputy.

The online reporting system is reserved for incidents with no suspect information that occurred in response areas covered by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Incidents that are eligible for this new service are limited to:

  • Hit and Run (no injury to person)
  • Theft from a Building
  • Theft of Services
  • Graffiti
  • Suspicious Activity
  • Lost or Mislaid Property
  • Theft of Mail
  • Telephonic Harassment
  • Identity Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Fraud
  • Shoplifting

Community members who would prefer to report incidents by calling our non-emergency number and speaking with a deputy directly will continue to have that option.

“By offering people multiple ways to report crimes our goal is to be respectful of our community members time and ensuring they have an option that is accessible and convenient to meet their needs.” – Jeff Stutrud, Enforcement Division Commander

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office provides 24-hour, 7 day a week, law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of Marion County as well as enhanced services to three contract cities and the East Salem Service District.
