The City of Salem is lifting the open burning ban due to the return of cooler temperatures, lighter winds, and higher humidity in the Willamette Valley. Starting from 10:00 AM on July 6, 2023, all outdoor burning activities will be permitted again, including legal fireworks and ceremonial and recreational fires.
However, despite lifting the ban, city, and fire officials are urging the community to remain cautious and mindful of the dry conditions. It’s essential to practice fire safety measures when engaging in outdoor burning. This means taking necessary precautions to prevent accidental fires and being responsible for using fireworks or any open flames.
While the ban may no longer be in effect, it’s important for individuals to stay vigilant and follow any additional guidelines or regulations put forth by local authorities regarding outdoor burning. Fire safety should always be a priority to prevent incidents or potential harm to the community and the environment.
