Salem Police Arrest Two in Salem Store Parking Lot Shooting

Shooting in store parking lot leaves three injured

Involved identified, arrests made

The three people injured in yesterday’s shooting incident have been identified.

The woman, 30-year-old Julia Thea Dora Dorfler of Eugene, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and remains hospitalized. Two men, 30-year-old Jamie Eugene Thomason and 28-year-old Chance Taylor Brason Towlerton, both of Springfield, also sustained gunshot wounds. Thomason remains in the hospital, and Towlerton was treated and released.

Detectives have arrested Robert Josh, Jr., age 62 of Springfield, for his suspected involvement in the shooting. Josh was lodged today at the Marion County Jail on the following charges:

  • Second-degree attempted murder
  • First-degree assault
  • Unlawful use of a weapon, firearm

Andrew William Beebe, age 28 of Eugene, was also arrested on an outstanding parole violation warrant.

All individuals in this incident are known to one another.

Due to the ongoing nature of this investigation, no further information is being released at this time.

Salem, Ore. — At approximately 7:35 a.m. today, Salem Police officers responded to the call of a shooting in the parking lot of the Fred Meyer Store at 3740 Market ST NE.

Responding officers initially located two adult individuals, a woman and man, both age 30, with gunshot wounds in the store’s parking lot. Officers also located a second man, age 28, with a gunshot wound inside the Elmer’s Restaurant, east of the store’s parking lot.

All were transported to Salem Health with varying injuries. The woman and one of the men remain hospitalized. The names of the individuals are not being released at this time.

Officers have accounted for all the individuals, and there is no continued threat to the public from this incident. No arrests have been made as the incident remains under active investigation, leaving a portion of the store’s parking lot still closed.

The store is open for business. Until further notice, however, customers must use the Lancaster Drive entrance until the scene is released.
