DALLAS (OR) – Travis Porter Bryant, 46, has been sentenced to serve 100 months (8 years, 4 months) in prison for attempting to murder his domestic partner by strangling her with a dog leash in Salem’s Wallace Marine Park.
Bryant, formerly of Dallas, was sentenced by Polk County Circuit Judge Monte S. Campbell, after a two-day jury trial concluded earlier this week. The 12 person jury deliberated for less than an hour before finding Bryant guilty of Attempted Murder, Assault in the Second Degree, Strangulation, Assaulting a Public Safety Officer, and Resisting Arrest. Bryant also pled guilty to separate charges of Contempt and Witness Tampering. Judge Campbell sentenced Bryant according to Oregon’s Measure 11 minimum mandatory sentencing law. He will not be eligible for any form of early release or sentence reduction for 90 of the 100 months imposed. He will also be required to serve a three year term of Post-Prison Supervision upon his release.
The case was investigated by the Salem Police Department and prosecuted by Polk County Deputy District Attorney Caroline Floyd.
