At a work session on Tuesday, January 21, Salem City Council will discuss the possibility of a five-year operating levy to fund Library, Parks and Center 50+ services. It is in response to the budget shortfall (see story above). The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
On November 25, 2024, the Council asked staff to prepare a plan for this kind of levy on the May 20, 2025, ballot. A decision on this must be made before the filing deadline for the election on February 28.
