Matt continues his conversation with Ben Kibler, this time focusing on the life Ben lives today, serving in ministry and reaching people struggling with addiction, homelessness, and life on the streets along the I-5 corridor.
Ben talks about his work with BBSM and what he has witnessed firsthand in Oregon’s drug crisis, including the devastating consequences he sees among people trapped in long-term addiction. Matt shares similar experiences from recent ministry trips to New York and Pennsylvania and discusses how those scenes compare with what they encounter on the streets of Salem.
Their ministry now includes working alongside law enforcement locally and nationally while continuing to meet people right where they are and share the Gospel. Matt and Ben also talk about an upcoming opportunity for BBSM to bring that message to a local public school.
The conversation ultimately turns toward solutions, personal responsibility, and the transformation in Ben’s own life. Once caught in addiction, criminality, and a lifestyle that took from the people around him, Ben is now giving back through his family, ministry, and community.
Ben and Matt acknowledge that every Christian is a work in progress, but challenge the idea that those words should become an excuse to continue in sin. Drawing from Romans 5, their message is one of accountability, redemption, and ultimately, “Victory through Jesus!”
