We talked about the extraordinary response that followed Charlie’s murder—young people discovering his campus videos, conversations about faith and free speech, and men reconsidering their responsibilities as husbands, fathers and leaders. His memorial became a major public expression of Christian faith, with worship, prayer and Erika Kirk’s very public act of forgiving her husband’s killer. (Restoration News)
But a year later, we asked a bigger question: Will Charlie’s legacy be defined by the controversy surrounding his death, or by the lives his message changed? Seeking answers and demanding facts is legitimate, but the noise shouldn’t overshadow the faith, courage and conviction that inspired so many people in the wake of his death.
Perhaps Charlie’s legacy won’t ultimately be measured by social-media trends at all. It may be found in the people who strengthened their families, returned to church, became more engaged in their communities or decided they were no longer afraid to speak openly about what they believe. Don’t mistake today’s noise for Charlie Kirk’s legacy.

We also looked back 25 years to September 11, 2001, sharing our own memories of that day and reflecting on the 2,977 lives lost. A tribute of 2,977 lights rising above New York Harbor offered a striking reminder that behind the number is an individual person who never came home.
We also discussed the controversy surrounding New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s planned participation in the 25th-anniversary observances. A petition organized by some 9/11 family members asking him not to attend has now drawn more than 100,000 signatures, with organizers criticizing his associations and actions; Mamdani has said he intends to attend and honor the victims and first responders. Other 9/11 families have publicly defended his participation. (New York Post)
Two anniversaries, two very different moments in American history – and a common reminder that how a nation remembers its dead says something about what it chooses to carry forward.
